Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has said it is proposed to align the State Budget with the calendar year, January 1 to December 31.
This is in tune with the Centre’s thought process and in accordance with its proposal, the State Government has decided to introduce the Budget which will be implemented during the calendar year, January 1 to December 31, according to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office.
Earlier, Budgets at the Centre and various States were introduced towards the end of the financial year in February at the Centre and in March in the States, for implementation during a financial year April 1 to March 31.
The Chief Minister has initiated discussions with the State’s Finance Department and officials on the modalities.
Rao also instructed Finance Minister Eatela Rajender, Principal Secretary Finance Ramakrishna Rao and other officials’ to deploy a team to Madhya Pradesh to study the changes in budget schedule.
In Madhya Pradesh, the Budget is already being presented in the new format i.e., calendar year to calendar year.
The Centre had come up with the move to change the Budget presentation and implementation schedule as this is seen to enable better planning and disbursement of funds.
