Infuriated over being sacked from job, a driver in upscale south attacked a 27-year-old fashion designer with a knife and injured her, the police here said on Monday.

The attack took place on Sunday afternoon in Shivalik area of Malviya Nagar, when a driver, identified as Anil, rang the door bell and asked the woman to move her car from a parking lot.

"Anil was sacked as a driver within 10 days of his hiring by Kaveri's family. He went to her house on Sunday and asked the victim to move her car, as it was obstructing movement of the car of his new employer," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Chinmoy Biswal said.

"When Kaveri stepped out and sat inside the car to move it, Anil attacked her with a knife. She has sustained injury in her neck. She was admitted in Max Hospital in Saket by her neighbour. She is out of danger but not fit enough to give statement," Biswal added.

Her mother Rekha said they had hired Anil for the job of driver, but his behaviour was not good. So, they decided to sack him from the job. He might have attacked Kaveri to take revenge for his sacking, she felt.
