Snowboarding and ‘me’ time

The five things Kris Chen, co-founder, Shopmatic Group, does to keep fit

1 My day starts with a cup of coffee in my balcony at 7 am; this is my “me” time. I meditate, enjoy the view and gather all the sanity and peace required to kick-start my day. I also like doing breathing exercises at this time of the day when the air is fresh.

2 I don’t have specific preferences when it comes to food or diet. I believe in maintaining a balance between having nice and tasty food and exercising regularly.

3 I love travelling. It’s in the airports that I really get to ponder on what I have left behind and all the new experiences that are about to begin.

4 I am a certified snowboarding instructor from this year. While snowboarding, you disconnect from everything else and really concentrate — and that gives me time with myself. About four to five months before the season, I start my training. That includes exercises for muscle training. I have visited about 10 ski resorts, including Japan (which is a must-go); snowboarding on powder snow is like walking on the clouds.

5 I enjoy the quiet time after work hours, to just get the music on and walk home. My day usually ends with a chat with my wife over a glass of wine.
