A watchman of a tea estate in Valparai in the district was gored to death by an elephant early this morning, police said.
They said relatives of Babu (48) went in search of him as he did not return home this morning. They found him in a ditch and noticed he was gored to death by elephant as he had tusk marks on his body.
The relatives informed police and the body was later taken to the government hospital for post-mortem.
