Gurgaon: A 22-year-old woman from the northeast was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by three men in a moving car on Saturday night in Gurgaon and thrown out on a road in Delhi early on Sunday.

The vicious attack brings back haunting memories of the Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case in which four convicts were sentenced to death by the Supreme Court earlier this month.

The incident took place when she was returning from Delhi at around 2 am to her residence in Sector 17-C of Gurgaon.

The victim, who hailed from the northeastern state of Sikkim, in her statement to the police, said that as she came near her house, she was dragged into a Swift car by three men, who raped her one after the other and later dumped her in Delhi's Najafgarh area. The young woman then approached some people on the road for help and informed the Delhi Police, which then alerted the Gurgaon Police.

The woman had gone to Connaught Place to meet her friend on Saturday night.

The three accused have been booked in a case of rape.

The police said that one of the accused was addressed as Deepak by the others.

"We have identified a few vehicles on the basis of her statement and CCTV footage and raids are being conducted at various locations to nab the accused," the police officer said.

The incident comes only a day after the gruesome gangrape and murder of a 23-year-old woman came to light after her decomposed and mutilated body was found near the Industrial Model Township in Urban Estate in Rohtak.
