Former chief minister Farooq Abdullah on Sunday appealed to Prime Minister Modi for a unilateral ceasefire from like former prime minister did during his tenure to solve the tensions on the border.

"We discussed about the present situation in I also told him that now it has become very important to take some major steps against the ongoing unrest in the state. It is not a problem of and order. I urged that we have to take major steps soon to solve the problem in the state because tensions in the border are increasing day by day.
