The Bruce Highway near Gin Gin has been closed after a fatal two-car head-on crash on Saturday.

It follows a rollover on the Sunshine Coast in the early hours of the morning, which left a woman fighting for her life.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the head-on crash, about five kilometres south of the Kolan River, about 8.30am and soon closed the road.

However, diversions were put in place, which limited delays in the area to less than a kilometre during Saturday. The highway was believed to have reopened about 3pm.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said a man had died while another man was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with serious injuries.

In a separate incident at Tanawha, a car rolled on the Bruce Highway near the Sippy Creek Road off-ramp about 3.30am.

The highway was reduced to one lane in each direction, causing heavy traffic in the area all morning, but the accident had been cleared away by 9am.

The 43-year-old woman driving the car was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
