A day after the police blamed a Hizbul Mujahideen module for the killing of Lt Ummer Fayaz, the outfit’s chief commander on Friday claimed its ultras were not involved in the incident.
In an emailed statement issued to a local news-gathering agency KNS, United Jihad Council (UJC) spokesman Syed Sadaqat Hussain quoted the outfit chief Syed Salah-ud-Din as saying: “Our militants are not involved in the murder of Lt Ummer Fayaz. Such a killing is condemnable.
“An officer from a pro-freedom family was murdered by the Indian agencies, and militants are being accused of it to shield the real face of the Indian agencies,” he said.
Salah-ud-Din, who heads the UJC, an umbrella unit of militant organisations based in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, also distanced themselves from international terror organisations like the al-Qaeda, the IS and the Taliban. Salah-ud-Din accused India of trying to create a group like the IS to defame the militant outfits .
