In a first-of-its-kind move, the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday offered the party membership to the state's diaspora.
The move came after the party's state Political Affairs Committee gave the nod to the move.
"It is for the first time that we are offering party membership to the diaspora. All those interested to enrol as party members should log on to the KPCC website," state Congress President M.M. Hassan said.
The opposition Congress also discussed the coming party organisational polls and a membership drive that ends on May 15. A final list of party members will be published on May 31.
"We have printed 2.25 lakh membership booklets, with each containing 25 forms. The membership fee is Rs 5 and no photograph is required," added Hassan.
As per the schedule, Congress Kerala unit chief will be elected in October.
