Copper, lead weaken on muted demand

Copper and lead showed weakness at the non-ferrous metal market today due to subdued demand from consuming industries amid weak trend in base metals at the futures market.

Traders said apart from easing demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market, a weak trend in base metals at the futures market, mainly weighed on copper and lead prices.



In the national capital, lead ingot and lead imported traded Re one each lower at Rs 92 and Rs 98 per kg.

Copper mixed scrap too fell by a similar margin to trade at Rs 335 per kg.

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 104-110, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 779-784, gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 335, chadri deshi Rs 295.

Lead ingot Rs 92, lead imported Rs 98, aluminium ingots Rs 154, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 150, aluminium wire scrap Rs 150 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 148.
