Police have filed a case against three state officials for submitting a fake report to allow 10 vends operate near national and state in the tehsil.

A case was filed at Ghatanji police station against deputy engineer Bhupesh Kathalkar, sub-inspector of state excise MU Kodape of Pandharkawda and land survey department surveyor NB Lokhande.

District collector Sachindra Pratap Singh had ordered these officers to measure the distance of the national and state and the vends operating in the tehsil, police said.

The said officers carried out the measurements and submitted a fake report to the collector saying that no shops in the town come within the 500 m restriction imposed by the Supreme Court, said police.

They made a bogus report to save 10 vends that were coming within the 500 meter limit, said police.

However, the Swamini Daru Bandi Andolan Samiti convenor Mahesh Pawar, city chief Manoj Dhagle and others approached the district collector and demanded a resurvey by competent authorities in their presence, mentions the complaint.

The collector then ordered a resurvey and the trio was found guilty of dereliction of duty and disobedience to the orders of the higher authorities, said police.

However, no arrests have been made so far in this connection.
