A minor fire was reported from outside the office of Union Transport minister Nitin Gadkari in the wee hours today.
Officials said the fire broke out in a wall mounted fan in front of the minister's office in Transport Bhavan on the Parliament Street around 2:45 AM.
They said the incident was noticed by CISF personnel who are tasked with the security of the building and the ministry.
"The fire was extinguished quickly by CISF men, even before the fire department tenders arrived. Three chairs and the fan were burnt," they said.
Meanwhile, three fire tenders and two police control room vans also arrived at the spot, they said, adding the probable cause of the minor fire looked to be a short circuit.
