A man was arrested today for allegedly killing his wife for dowry, in what police had initially suspected to be a suicide case.
The woman named Sugandha was found hanging from a ceiling fan yesterday at Mamura village here. Police had suspected she committed suicide.
But Sugandha's father Prasad Gupta has lodged an FIR against her husband Ashish Sharma and his paramour, alleging that they murdered her.
He alleged that Ashish, along with his paramour, had killed his wife and later hanged her body to give it an appearance of suicide, but it was actually a dowry death case.
Ashish and Sugandha had a love marriage.
Ashish was arrested and a court later sent him to judicial custody for 14 days.
Police are searching for his paramour who lived in the same locality.
