If you are looking to get your hands on a shiny new OnePlus 3T smartphone, this might just be the perfect time. Smartphone maker OnePlus has discontinued the OnePlus 3T’s 128GB variant, as indicated by the company’s own online store. This means that no new stocks of this variant will be made anymore, while the 64GB variant of the phone will continue to be available for the time being.

OnePlus 3T colette edition: A gorgeous phone you may not be able to buy
It was in late 2016 when OnePlus dropped a surprise and announced the OnePlus 3T, just six months after the hugely successful OnePlus 3 was launched. The 3T had retained the single-piece aluminium design from the OnePlus 3, while the silver was replaced by a darker gunmetal option in the 3T, and added a gorgeous black variant later. Under the hood, the 3T got a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, as compared with the Snapdragon 820 processor in the OnePlus 3. It retained 6GB RAM and a 5.5-inch optic AMOLED display with the Full HD (1,920x1,080) resolution. It also was the inspiration for the OnePlus 3T Colette edition, as it is called, made to celebrate the Paris-based fashion brand Colette’s 20th anniversary.
Currently, on Amazon.in as well as OnePlus’s own online store, the OnePlus 3T is available in the 64GB variant (Rs29,999), in the gunmetal and soft gold colour options. However, there is no sign of the 128GB variant on either store at the time of writing this, which could mean that stocks have already run out.

This could be a strategic move to free up the production lines for the OnePlus 5 flagship killer smartphone, which is coming this summer. While there are no specific dates or timelines yet, we could take hints from the OnePlus 3 which launched around the same time last year. It is expected that the OnePlus 5 will run the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, and perhaps even 8GB RAM, though it’ll be interesting to see how many apps can make use of this much RAM just yet. Also, there might be a display upgrade too, with the Full HD screen making way for something with a higher resolution. It will be interesting to see if the OnePlus 5 increases the storage space stakes, and gets a 256GB avatar as well.
