Sharad Yadav, Raja want political solution to Kashmir problem

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

Senior Opposition leader Sharad Yadav today discussed the "increasingly worsening" situation in Kashmir with D Raja of the of India, and called for resolving the issue politically.

The two leaders agreed that all shades of opinion should be taken into account while finding a solution to the present unrest in the valley, a Left party member said.

The two leaders discussed the problem over the phone, a day after Yadav reportedly had a discussion with BJP's Yashwant Sinha here on the same issue.

"Yadav and Raja opined that the issue, being sensitive, cannot be left to the PDP-combine in the state. It is the Centre which should take the initiative in this connection," the member said.

Yadav had reportedly earlier discussed the issue with former Prime Minister and CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, bringing up the possibility of working with different groups involved with Kashmir for a solution.

The leaders are planning to organise a conclave on the issue in the national capital later this month, the Left party member said.
