'Pathala Gange' on pilot basis in 10 towns

The state will implement “Pathala Gange” project on a pilot basis at 10 towns in the state. Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister H K Patil told reporters here on Monday that water was available at a depth of 300 metres to 800 metres and the technology to pinpoint this water source was not developed hitherto.

“Now, we have come across a company which has expertise in deep subterranean exploration. The Niti Aayog too has given consent to the project.” He said the project would be implemented in Indi, Aland, Mahalingapura, Srinivaspur, Pavagad and such other places that are facing acute water scarcity. “We cannot implement water harvesting projects in these areas and they do not get rain at all. Under such circumstances, the government has to look for alternative solutions.”
