JAMMU, May 6: Denouncing temptation to settle political scores on the name of terrorism, Union Minister in PMO with independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh said that such kind of tactics will prove counterproductive to the political interests of these parties also.
Talking to reporters soon after his arrival for two days tour of Kathua -Doda Lok Sabha Constituency here today, he cautioned the Kashmir centric political parties in this regard and asked them to desist from such activities as they are not going to benefit them in long run and denounced selective condemnation of violence by these parties also.
“These political parties should resist the temptations to score points over their opponents when out of power as it does not auger well. There has been a phenomenon in Kashmir political parties from past that when in opposition they become sympathizers to separatists and perpetrators of violence to score points over their political rivals”, he added.
Dr Jitendra said that in past there was a trend for these politicians in making one statements in Srinagar, another in Jammu and third in Delhi but this is not possible as it can no longer sustain in this evidence based era and real time reporting. These parties can’t afford in duplicity and triplicity, he added.
In response to a question regarding pumping of funds in Kashmir by Pakistan through separatist Hurriyat to foment trouble in Valley and continue violence, Dr Jitendra Singh said that this is not some thing new as Pakistan has been since exposed for its misadventures in Kashmir. “Pakistan is not only involved in fomenting trouble in Kashmir but it has also been exposed for human rights violations in the sub continent including PoK, Gilgit and Baltistan.
“This is not the first time that Pakistan has been exposed of pumping funds in Kashmir through separatists for sponsoring terrorist activities but it has hardly been any secret as Pakistan has been involved in perpetration, promotion and sponsorship of terrorism in Valley. “There has been substantial evidence that transaction of money has been done from time to time and also at occasion security forces have intercepted such transactions”, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said the Government of India has taken cognizance of the same. The Defence Minister and Home Minister have also reiterated that every step will be taken that this kind of sponsored militancy and unrest supported from Pakistan soil is brought to an end.
In response to another question that hardliner Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelnai has asked the people not to send their children to Goodwill schools, Dr Jitendra Singh said this should open the eyes of youth and they should question the separatists that if the so called Jehad is as holy for them then why don’t they send their own children who are studying in reputed educational institutions outside the Valley as well as abroad or working on good posts in Government or private sector to join the stone pelting instead of instigating the poor children to join violence and asking for closure of Government schools in which poor children are studying.
Dr Jitendra Singh made it clear that youth in Kashmir want to be part of the country wide developmental programme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi but due to the hurdles created by terrorists and separatists they can’t reap the benefits of this developmental agenda.
On the running of Pak TV channels by cable operators in Kashmir despite ban, Dr Jitendra Singh said that Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has taken a strong exception to it and Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Venkaiah Naidu has given directions in candid terms to the State administration to act against such operators under law. The Government will definitely take action and no body will go scot free, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh also reiterated that peace will be restored in the trouble-torn Kashmir Valley soon as Centre has assured full cooperation and coordination to State Government in this regard.
On the coming Amarnath yatra, he said as the date is drawing near the State Government and administration should take every step to ensure smooth and hassle free yatra to holy cave.
Dr Jitendra Singh also took a dig at Congress party saying BJP is not a dynasty centric party where all direction come from 10 Janpath. In BJP there are checks and balances and collective leadership, he added.
He said in BJP every worker apart from his family background gets equal opportunity to prove his capability and capacity.
