Off road motorbike riders charged over burglary and robbery offences

A joint police operation targeting a group of off road motorbike riders committing robberies in Perth's south eastern suburbs has led to a string of charges being laid.

Armadale Detectives, Kensington Detectives and South East Metro Local Policing Team officers commenced Operation Automotive in early April.

The operation targeted people using off road motorbikes to allegedly commit robbery offences between Gosnells and Wilson during the day.

It was believed the same group were also behind several home burglaries, predominantly in the Gosnells area at night-time.

Among those arrested to date include a 15-year-old boy of East Cannington who has been charged with aggravated burglary, steal motor vehicle and stealing.

An 18-year-old man from Thornlie has also been charged with two counts of aggravated burglary, two counts of steal motor vehicle, reckless driving, fail to stop and no authority to drive.

A 21-year-old man of Huntingdale has been charged with three counts of steal motor vehicle, stealing, breach of bail, no authority to drive and reckless driving.

A Mirrabooka man, aged 20, has been charged with robbery and a 30-year-old man of Brookdale has been summonsed on a range of driving related charges.

A 15-year-old boy of Canning Vale has also been charged as part of the operation.

Acting Senior Sergeant Rob Cox from Armadale Detectives said the success of Operation Automotive was greatly due to help from the public.

"Through the invaluable information they provided our officers were able to make inquiries and subsequently identify and arrest those in the group," he said.

Police inquiries are ongoing and further charges may be laid.
