"It is very good and balanced decision. After a long time, the Supreme has actually come out with such a judgment. "It is a historic verdict for which we waited for five long years. This has brought back the common man's faith in the justice system. This judgment was needed, as it will now bring fear in the minds of rapists. The mother who waited so long has finally got justice," Nafeesa Khan from told ANI.

"I 'am glad that the judgment has been passed, although there has been controversy about whether the death penalty is an accurate punishment for rape," said Ahona Moitro.

"These people don't deserve to live because they can't respect life clearly, I think death penalty is what the convicts deserve," Mishti from told ANI.

There were however many who also felt that death penalty might not be the correct answer in the longer term. "As a woman, capital punishment is not enough for all the crimes that the convicts committed. "Death is a very easy punishment, the perpetrators should be made to suffer like Nirbhaya suffered," Priyanka Adhikari from told ANI.
