The Bangalore Development Authority has set a three-month deadline for completing the long-pending Hennur flyover project. The Rs 58-crore project, launched in 2009 connecting Hennur Cross to Kacharakanahalli, has been delayed due to issues with land acquisition. Moreover, the flyover was redesigned for increasing the ramp length.

“The ramp length of the flyover was extended from 200 metres to 400 metres to connect it to the Hennur bus depot. Also, 32 properties had to be acquired for the project and the owners of some properties were demanding more compensation. Hence, the project got delayed,” said BDA engineer member P N Naik.

Bengaluru Development Minister K J George, who inspected the flyover on Friday, admitted that there had been delay in paying compensation to people who parted with their properties for the project. “A few landowners are demanding compensation of Rs 15,000 per sq ft which we are looking into. I have directed the BDA to complete the work at the earliest," the minister said. He added that the BDA and the BBMP will jointly construct a park with a swimming pool will come up on 16 acres in Hennur Bande area.
