Rahul Tripathi, who has emerged as a key player for Rising Pune Supergiant in this season of IPL, today said he always focused on how to play a big shot.
"I don't think how tough is the ball. I think, he (bowler) is bowling a good yorker, so how can I hit it for a boundary. If he is bowling a bouncer, what type of shot I can play. I always thought like that," Tripathi said at the pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow's match against defending champion Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The 26-year-old Tripathi, who has been highly successful against the pacers, said he just tried to keep it simple and strike the ball.
"It's nothing specific. It is just that it has come out good attacking them. I have just kept it simple to strike the ball," he said.
The Maharashtra batsman said he's excited playing in a big stage like IPL and sharing the dressing room with the likes of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Ajinkya Rahane.
"I am excited. It's a big opportunity for me to be here. I am just trying to enjoy the moment. Not thinking too much, just play, just take match by match. It's coming naturally to me. Nothing extra," he said.
Tripathi said his confidence got a boost when senior players like Dhoni and Rahane appreciated him for his good performance.
"I am feeling very blessed to get this opportunity to bat with them and share this experience," he said.
Having come closer to play-offs, RPS is looking forward to the competition against Sunrisers Hyderabad tomorrow.
"It's an important game for us. We are close to play- offs. Sunrisers are a good side at home. It is good to win against them," Tripathi said.
Pune now have 14 points from 11 matches (having won seven and lost four) while Sunrisers have collected 13 points from 11 games.
Tripathi said his "ultimate dream" is to play for the country, but added that he's happy to be contributing to RPS' success in IPL.
