The incident had occurred on April 30 when Amandeep Singh Dhillon and his friend went for dinner at a hotel, where Sanjiv was also present with one of his friends, Prince.

When leaving, Amandeep's car collided with Sanjiv's vehicle, after which a quarrel broke out between the two sides, Superintendent of Police (city) Aakash Tomar said.

Amandeep, in a gush of rage, struck Sanjiv's head with a brick. Sanjiv's friend, Prince, opened fired on Amandeep, with the bullet hitting him on the chest, the SP said.

Amandeep (35) was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead. Sanjiv, who was discharged from the hospital after treatment for his injury, was arrested by the police.

Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Prince near Amity school in Vasundhra. A pistol and two live cartridges used in the crime were seized from his possession, police said.
