Number of power utilities filing timely tariff petition rises

The number of power utilities filing tariff in a timely manner for the ongoing fiscal has increased, according to a report.

"There has been an increase in terms of the number of utilities which have timely filed tariff for FY 2018, with 14 utilities (out of 41) filing the tariff in a timely manner during the current rating exercise," the report said.



Twenty six of the 41 rated power distribution entities have shown an improvement in their aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) loss levels during FY'2016 (over the previous year).

Twelve utilities have reported AT&C loss levels within 15 per cent during 2016, as compared to 10 utilities during 2015.

"The median loss level has declined to 22.92 per cent in the current rating exercise from 24.82 per cent in the fourth rating exercise after coming down from 25.08 per cent in the third rating exercise, 26.19 per cent in the second rating exercise and 26.55 per cent in the first rating exercise," it said.

Fourteen utilities have been able to achieve more than 10 per cent reduction on this parameter which include Eastern Power Distribution Company of AP Ltd, Southern Power Distribution Company of AP Ltd, Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Ltd and Uttarakhand Power Corporation Ltd.

Six utilities including Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd, Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd and Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd have shown deterioration of more than 10 per cent, the report said.
