Bharti Infratel helping 117 students

Telecom provider Bharti Infratel today said its scholarship program for persons with disabilities has reached out to 117 students in the first year of its launch.

"Bharti Infratel Scholarship Program has been successful in supporting the career aspirations of 117 students with disabilities in its first year. Going ahead, we look forward to increase the number of deserving students under the initiative," company managing director and COO D S Rawat said.



The program is designed to benefit students across all eight NE states.

Among the selected 117 students with disabilities, 13 are pursuing professional/technical courses, 87 are pursuing graduation and 17 post-graduation, he said.

Launched in partnership with 'Shishu Sarothi', a non-profit organisation, the primary objective of the 'Bharti Infratel Scholarship Program' is to provide financial support and help the students with disabilities to pursue professional or technical education which will help them get employment ready.

'Shishu Sarothi' implements and identifies deserving students from disadvantaged economic background.

Azmal Hussain, a hearing impaired student from Assam's Barpeta District got selected in IIT, Delhi and was supported by Bharti Infratel Scholarship Program.

"I am immensely thankful to Bharti Infratel Scholarship Program which has assisted me to pursue higher studies from a prestigious institution.

"The programme is a big encouragement for disabled students like me who wants to pursue higher education and dream of a bright future," he said.

Visazo Kikhi from Nagaland, a student with locomotor disability who is pursuing MBBS from Government Medical College, Kozhikode, said "The scholarship has reduced my family's burden and helped me in fulfilling my dreams of becoming a doctor.
