Academy awards winner ‘Lion’ starring Indian-origin British actor Dev Patel and ‘The Sapphires’, a film inspired by a true story are among the prominent Australian films that will be screened at the upcoming three-day Australian film festival in the city.
Starting on May 12, film afficionados can treat themselves to Australian films to be screened at Inox at Mantri Square, Malleswaram. The Australian Consulate-General, Chennai and Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy (KCA), the main organisers of the event, aim to build stronger links between the Australian and south Indian film industries through the fest.
“I am delighted to partner with KCA for the first-ever Australian Film Showcase in Bengaluru. Our objectives are to introduce Australian cinema to the people of Bengaluru and promote collaboration between the Australian and Kannada film industries,” said Australian Consul General Sean Kelly at the launch of Film Showcase on Thursday.
Two renowned Australian film personalities associated with the opening night film, ‘Red Dog: True Blue,’ actor/producer Bryan Brown and producer Nelson Woss will be participating in the film fest. There will also be an interactive film workshop by Australian directors and Kannada filmmakers on May 11, according to the organisers.
