Over 6.53 lakh tablets of pseudo-ephedrine was seized from Phaisen hamlet at Kolasib district on the Mizoram-border by Reserve Police and three persons were arrested in connection with it, police said today.

Police said that the seized drugs worth around Rs 30 lakh in the local market and was reportedly brought from to be smuggled to Myanmar.



The three persons were booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, the police added.

Pseudo-ephedrine is legally manufactured in but often illegally smuggled to Myanmar where it is being used as a precursor for clandestine manufacture of Methamphetamine, also known as 'Crystal Meth' or 'party drugs'.
