A cheque of Rs 29.85 lakh was presented to Defence Minister on Wednesday on behalf of employees of Madhya Gramin as a donation towards the Army Battle Casualties Welfare Fund, an official statement said.

The cheque was presented to Jaitley by Punjab National Managing Director and CEO Usha Ananthasubramanian. The Madhya Gramin is sponsored by the PNB.

Financial assistance will be provided to the families of the army battle casualties out of this fund.

Accepting the cheque, Jaitley appreciated the concern shown by the employees towards families of the defence personnel who have sacrificed their lives for the country and expressed his confidence that such efforts will be continued, the statement said.
