A 45-year-old man was hacked to death by his friend over a petty issue on Saturday night. A drunk Girish killed his friend Raghavendra (45), a resident of Yelachenahalli, off Kanakapura Road. The police have detained Girish for interrogation. Raghavendra and Girish are bar benders by profession, said the police.

The duo had consumed liquor at a bar around 11 pm. Raghavendra told Girish to pay the bill. He claimed he had been paying their liquor bill for the last two weeks and hence Girish should pay for the drinks.

An enraged Girish took a piece of wood and repeatedly hit Raghavendra on his face. An injured Raghavendra was taken to a nearby hospital where he died after some time, the police said.
