New Delhi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, widely expected to be elevated as the party president, a post currently held bu his mother Sonia Gandhi, has the leadership qualities but needs to be more accessible to party workers, senior Congress leader Sheila Dikshit said in an interview following her party's dismal performance in the MCD elections.

"I would like Rahul Gandhi to be more accessible," Dikshit, 79, who served three consecutive terms as chief minister of the national capital told NDTV.

Driving her point home, Dikshit recalled that Sonia Gandhi, after taking charge of the party nearly 19 years back, used to spend about two or three hours at the Congress headquarters every day.

"Rahul must do the same," she added.

She also expressed hope that if Rahul takes her advice, the Congress headquarters would "start buzzing" again and not wear the desolate look it has after the party's performance in the recent assembly elections.

"The whole place would start buzzing," she said.

However, she also cautioned her partymen, saying others in Congress too need to "get used to his (Rahul Gandhi) style."

The 79-year-old Congress veteran, while asserting that Rahul Gandhi possessed the leadership qualities, said he needs to work hard to change his working style.
