Potato should be a part of mid day meal in Uttar Pradesh to help farmers, the chief of the BJP's farmers wing, Virendra Singh Mast, has requested to the state's chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
Potato farmers often let their produce go waste due to lack of remunerative price and a decision to make the vegetable a part of mid day meal scheme will help them, he said in a letter.
"Potato is also a complete food. Such a decision will help farmers and students as well," Mast told reporters here.
He had also written to HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar with a similar request some time back.
Singh said he had been assured by the state government that his demand will be met.
