A police constable and his eight-year-old son allegedly drowned while taking bath at Kumabakarai falls near Periyakulam in the district today, police said.

The victims Arulnathan(38), and his son Samuel Raj, from Chennai, were allowed to take bath at the falls, which is out of bounds to the public, they said.



The incident occurred when Samuel strayed into the pool near the falls and drowned in deep waters.

Arulnathan, who attempted to save his son also died, they said adding a case has been registered.
