Two cousins were allegedly robbed of Rs 1.25 lakh in southwest Delhi's Bindapur area they were attacked with chilli powder by bike-borne assailants, police said today.

The incident occurred near Jeewan Hospital, Kiran Garden around 11.30 PM yesterday when Mohd Akram (27) and his cousin Mohd Sahid (22) were returning home on a motorcycle.



They were intercepted by two men on another motorcycle who threw chilli powder in their eyes, a senior police official said.

Akram and Shahid fell from the motorcycle and one of the attackers tried to snatch the bag containing the money from them, the official said.

When they tried to resist the robbery attempt, one of the assailants shot Akram in his right leg, while his associate stabbed Sahid. The unidentified men then fled the spot, he said.

The injured cousins were rushed to the hospital, the officer said, adding a case has been registered and probe is underway.
