The national capital saw a warm day on Monday with the maximum temperature at 37.8 degrees Celsius, average for the season. Tuesday is likely to be cloudy and while the respite from heat will last this week, warmer days lie ahead.

According to the weather office, the national capital will see warm days but the respite from heat waves would continue for another 5 days.

The Met department has forecast partly cloudy sky with possibility of thunder and lightening for Tuesday.

The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 38 degrees Celsius.

"The sky is likely to turn partly cloudy later on Tuesday. There would be a slight hike in the minimum temperature but the minimum temperature would remain around the average of the season," an India Meteorological Department official told IANS.

The minimum on Monday was at 25.6 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average.

Sunday's maximum temperature settled at 39.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 26.8 degrees Celsius.
