Sensex closes 290 pts higher, Nifty rises 1.08% to 9,217 level

15:47 pm: The Sensex closed 290.54 points or 0.99 percent higher at 29,655 level, Nifty too ended in green with 1.08 percent gain at 9217 level.

15:40 pm: ACC shares rose 7.36 percent or 110.20 points to 1606 level. Indian Bank (9.29 percent)  and India Cements (7.05 percent) were also among top gainers on the BSE.

13:44 pm: The Sensex rose almost 275 points in afternoon trade, with Nifty too gaining almost 1 percent to 9213 points.

13:35 pm: HCL Technologies says to buy Urban Fulfillment Services.

12:27 pm: The Sensex has extended early gains to trade more than 190 points higher at 12.26 p.m, with 18 components in green.

12:15 pm: Edelweiss Financial Services shares rise 5 percent to Rs 182.65.

12:01 pm:  Oil prices recovered some ground on Monday following last week's big losses, driven by expectations that OPEC will extend a pledge to cut output to cover all of 2017, although a relentless rise in U.S. drilling capped gains.

10:42 am: Reliance Industries stock trading more than 1 percent higher ahead of its Q4 earnings today.

10:38 am: Divi's Laboratories stock hits 52-week low intraday. The firm said on Friday the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) has issued a warning letter to the company for its Vishakhapatnam facility.

10:32 am: HDFC Bank continues to rise post strong Q4 earnings on Friday; CLSA, Credit Suisse raise target price. 

10:18 am: Adani Ports (2.30 percent), HDFC Bank (2.22 percent) and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (1.94 percent) top gainers on the Sensex. 

10:16 am: Sensex trading 140 points higher at 29,504 level; Nifty at 9,162 level, up 42.70 points.

10:12 am: IndiaBulls Real Estate (9.73 percent), India Cements (7.26 percent), Adani Enterprises (7.37 percent) top gainers on the BSE.

9:30 am: BSE midcap index rises 0.3 percent at 9.23 a.m.; the index has gained nearly 21 percent so far this year.

9:25 am: ACC shares rise 1.8 percent to Rs 1,522 - the stock is the top percentage gainer on the Nifty, Grasim and Ambuja too in top gainers.

9:20 am: Sensex, Nifty rise in early trade, it's an upward trending market.
