Atwo day National Consultation Meet for Fisheries Development Policy, organised by NABARD, began here today.

Devendra Chaudhry, Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, inaugurated the meet.



He suggested the to study various aspects related to the development of fisheries sector in the country. Stocking of fish seedlinks in the small reservoirs to be studied across the country to get an understanding about the ideal and actual stocking, he said.

After inaugurating the meet, the official did a detailed presentation of the Blue Revolution Scheme, a project for the development of the entire fisheries sector.

Through blue revolution scheme, the central governement is aiming atProductivity enhancement, infrastructure, modernosation, New technology, Capacity building, welfare measures.

Policies are formulated with no time without any scientific background, said A Ramchandran, Vice Chancellor, Fisheries University.

About 25 paper presentations will be done on various topics related to fisheries sector during the meet. The meet is expected to suggest a policy framework and a growth strategy for the complete and integrated development of the sector.
