Activists of the AIMIM, led by the party's from Aurangabad Central seat Imtiyaz Jaleel, today vandalised a shop in Shahgunj locality in protest against the nuisance caused by drunkards in the area.

More than 200 activists, led by Jaleel, ransacked the shop selling country and set ablaze the furniture inside it, the police said, adding that the fire was doused soon.



The activists also locked down another country shop in the same locality.

A case was registered against the agitators, including the MLA, under relevant sections of the (IPC) at City Chowk police station, an official said.

Jaleel and a local AIMIM (All Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen) corporator Saira Bano had recently submitted a memorandum to the district administration demanding that the license of the shop should not be renewed.

As per the memorandum, the shop is located near three schools, including the one for girls. Besides, at least four places of worship and a market are located near the shop.

It stated that drunkards create nuisance in the area everyday, which is creating problems to women.

"The shop has violated all existing rules and its license should not be renewed. The shop should not be allowed to operate in this area. We will intensify our agitation," the said.
