The mood of the voters in the national capital appears to be no different from other parts of the country, with exit polls on Sunday predicting that the BJP will retain its decade-long hold over municipal bodies here with a much improved electoral performance. At the same time, the outcome is expected to be a huge setback for the Delhi-ruling AAP which has done badly in all the three civic bodies.

The exit polls aired by news channels after the polling got over on Sunday evening also indicate that the Congress's slide continues in the city. The results for corporations of South, East and North Delhi will be announced on Wednesday.

The ABP News-C Voter exit poll suggests a BJP wave in corporation elections. The Hindi news channel claimed that not only the BJP will be able to beat anti-incumbency, the chances are that outcome will reflect sweeping mandate the party had got in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Of 272 seats in three corporation bodies, the BJP is expected to get 218 seats. AAP will follow with 24 seats and Congress 22. The BJP, says the exit poll, is expected to snatch seats from the BSP too which may win 8 wards.

Last elections, the BJP had got 138 seats, Congress 77 and BSP 57. AAP did not exist in 2012. In South Delhi Municipal Corporation, ABP News foresees BJP getting 80 out of 104. AAP and Congress would barely get 9 each while others 3.

The exit polls similarly claimed the BJP will win 88 out of 104 wards of North Delhi Municipal Corporation. While AAP will have to be content with 6 and Congress 3. For East Delhi Municipal Corporation's 64 seats, the exit poll predicts that BJP will get 47, AAP 9 and Congress 6.

The Axis-India Today's exit polls gave BJP 202 seats, AAP 23 to 35 seats, Congress 19 to 31 seats and others 2 to 8 seats. In the north, the BJP is predicted to win 78 to 84 seats, while Congress and AAP may win 8 to 12 wards each. In South, BJP will get 79-85 seats, AAP 9-13 seats and Cong 7-11 seats. And in east, BJP is expected to corner 45-51 seats, AAP 6-10 seats and Cong 4-8 seats.
