The buses of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) won’t have to stop at toll plazas of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) in the state from today. They will be paying the toll digitally, instead.

GSRTC Managing Director Vijay Nehra said this had become possible because of the use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, which enables ‘e-tolling’ (digital payment of toll).

Nehra said this will help the state bus service save several crores of rupees as it would cut down fuel consumption. It will also reduce congestion at the toll plazas.
