Sensex up; ICICI Bank, Vedanta among most active stocks in terms of volume on Thursday

NEW DELHI: The domestic equity market traded firmly with gains on Thursday.

Shares of ICICI Bank (number of shares traded: 2.00 crore), SBI (0.83 crore), PNB (0.59 crore), Yes Bank (0.59 crore), Bank of Baroda (0.57 crore), DLF (0.55 crore), Hindalco Inds. (0.53 crore), Axis Bank (0.50 crore), Vedanta Ltd (0.49 crore), and Ashok Leyland (0.46 crore) were among the most traded securities on the National Stock Exchange on around 12.40 pm.

The NSE Nifty index was up 24.75 points at 9,128.25, while the BSE Sensex was trading 68.26 points higher at 29,404.83 around the same time.

In the Nifty index, Grasim Industries (up 4.62 per cent), GAIL (up 3.02 per cent), Bank of Baroda (up 1.89 per cent), HDFC (up 1.87 per cent), Indiabulls Housing Finance (up 1.73 per cent), Adani Ports SEZ (up 1.34 per cent), Ambuja Cements (up 1.33 per cent), ONGC (up 1.11 per cent), UltraTech Cement (up 0.99 per cent) and HDFC Bank (up 0.94 per cent) were among the top gainers, while Yes Bank (down 3.65 per cent), ICICI Bank (down 2.37 per cent), Axis Bank (down 1.87 per cent), Tata Power (down 1.69 per cent), Power Grid (down 1.23 per cent), Indian Oil Corp (down 1.17 per cent), Coal India Ltd (down 1.01 per cent), Sun Pharma (down 0.90 per cent), Bharti Infratel (down 0.85 per cent), and Aurobindo Pharma (down 0.73 per cent) were among the top losers in the index.
