Delhi BJP sacks Narela candidate Savita Khatri

NEW DELHI: Following allegations of rebel AAP MLA Sandeep Kumar campaiging for the upcoming municipal elections, the Delhi BJP sacked Savita Khatri of Narela ward on Tuesday. Rebel AAP MLA Sandeep Kumar was the Social Welfare Minister in the Delhi cabinet and was sacked from his post after a CD alleging a sex scandal emerged.

With the municipal elections due on April 23, this will be the sixth seat that will not have a BJP candidate. The party's candidates had lost their nominations from five wards earlier after the state election commission had cancelled the nominations of five of its candidates leading to the party later supporting independent candidates in those wards.

Reacting to reports of Kumar joining the BJP, senior party functionary Vinay Sahasrabudhe said that 'there is no place for criminal elements of AAP and any form of association or connivance with them will not be tolerated'.
