Riding high on the launch of the sports edition of its hatchback Figo and compact sedan Aspire, car maker Ford India Pvt Ltd aims to cross 100,000 sales figures in 2017.
In the first three months (between January and March) of this year, the car maker has sold about 25,000 units of cars, a growth of about 25 per cent compared to the same period of last year.
"Last year, we sold about 92,000 cars in India. In the last three months of 2017 we have sold close to 25,000 units. We are likely to cross more than a lakh positively. Our leading segment growth is coming from Ecosport coupled with the new launches endeavour, Figo and aspire", said Devarajan C, general manager (service engineering operations) of Ford India .
"We are aiming at a double digit growth of around 12 per cent this year. These two new variants is going to be helpful to attract more and more customers. We are expecting that these two new variants will push us easily towards in achieving the target pan India," he added.
The sports edition features all new tuned suspension with bigger and wider 15-inch alloy wheels which the company claims that it enhances the fun-to- drive character of the two popular Ford models.
Both the models are available with a choice of two powertrains -- 1.2 litre TiVCT petrol engine generating a peak power of 88 PS and fuel efficiency 18.12 km per litre and 1.5 litre TDCi diesel engine that generates 100 PS and fuel efficiency of 24.29 km per litre.
The Ford Figo and Aspire sports edition will be available in five and seven exciting colours respectively.
Ford Figo sports edition will be priced at Rs 7,49,135 (ex-showroom Bhubaneswar) for 1.5 diesel titanium and Rs 6,56,088 for 1.2 petrol titanium. The Ford Aspire in sports edition is priced at Rs 7,89,797 (1.5 diesel titanium) and Rs 6,76,006 (1.2 petrol titanium).
