Facebook's Zuckerberg vows to help prevent repeat of Cleveland murder posting
SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA: Facebook Inc Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg pledged on Tuesday that his company would do all it could to prevent postings of incidents like Sunday's fatal shooting in Cleveland, which was visible on the social media site for two hours.
Zuckerberg, speaking at Facebook's annual conference for software developers, expressed the sympathy of company employees to the friends and family of the shooting victim, Robert Godwin Sr.
Steve Stephens, 37, was accused of fatally shooting Robert Godwin Sr in Cleveland, Ohio as the 74-year-old grandfather was walking home from dinner on Easter Sunday.
Stephens is believed to have videotaped his actions and published it on Facebook, along with another video threatening to kill others and claiming he had already killed 13 people.
Stephens fatally shot himself today after a brief pursuit in neighboring Pennsylvania, police said.
