Offering no respite from the heat, the maximum temperature in the national capital is expected to touch 40 degrees Celsius on Monday, Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

On Sunday, the maximum temperature was 39.8 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average.

It was a sunny Monday morning here with the minimum temperature recorded at 25.5 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season's average.

Humidity was recorded at 57 per cent at 8.30 a.m.

IMD officials said that it would be clear sky throughout the day. According to the office, high maximum temperature condition is likely to prevail till April 19.
