The Reserve Bank has opened a new office at Raipur to look into the grievances of residents and entities in Chhattisgarh, while relieving the Bhopal office of the job of the state's banking ombudsman.
The Bhopal office so far had the jurisdiction for both Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
"Considering...Large jurisdiction being covered by the current Office of the Banking Ombudsman, Bhopal, the Reserve Bank has set up an Office of the Banking Ombudsman for state of Chhattisgarh at Raipur," RBI said in a release.
It said Raipur office will have jurisdiction over the entire state of Chhattisgarh, which was earlier under the jurisdiction of Bhopal office of the banking ombudsman.
People having grievances about banking services can lodge complaints at the banking ombudsman office falling in their jurisdiction.
They can file complaints ranging from non-payment or delay in payment or collection of cheques/drafts, non- acceptance of small denomination notes or coins, non-adherence to prescribed working hours, failure to provide or delay in providing a banking services, delays or non-credit of proceeds to parties' accounts to non-observance of RBI's directives on banking services.
With the new addition, banking ombudsman offices have now increased to 19.
