The Janata Dal (Secular) will not ally with any party for the 2018 Assembly elections in Karnataka, said HD Kumaraswamy, president of the party’s State unit.
Addressing presspersons in Mangaluru on Monday, the former Karnataka Chief Minister said his party would neither join forces with the Congress nor the BJP.
“I am ready to face another election than going in for an alliance with others, even if there is a fractured verdict,” he said.
To a query on the reasons for not contesting the recent bypolls for Nanjanagudu and Gundlupet Assembly constituencies, Kumaraswamy said he did not want to waste the party’s resources unnecessarily.
However, the party will contest all the 224 Assembly seats in the 2018 election, he said.
On the drought situation in the State, Kumaraswamy said most of the ministers in the government spent their time focusing on by-poll than focusing on drought relief measures.
