Mumbai Indians showed great character in overcoming a top order collapse to beat the Royal challengers Bangalore at Chinnaswamy stadium.

Their bowlers had done well in restricting the Bangalore boys of Gayle, Kohli and De Villiers to a pretty manageable score but then leg spinner Samuel Badree claimed a hat trick to rock the Mumbai team. The T20 format is such that teams try to be unpredictable so Mumbai promoted Mclenaghan which proved disastrous as he holed out first ball.

Rohit Sharma opens the batting for India in both the 50 overs and T20 format but for some strange reason he is batting down the order and that has not allowed the Mumbai team to get the start they are looking for. Just like Mumbai are reaping the benefit of bringing Harbhajan Singh back, so also they must now persuade their captain to get back to opening the batting.

Rohit has floundered against the leg spinners so opening the batting will give him the chance to feel the ball coming on to his bat rather than reaching out for it against the leg spinner.

Pollard played a capital innings making the chase look easy after those early wickets and with Krunal Pandya also batting aggressively the target was achieved with no further worries. Once again, the Bangalore team struggled to defend a total even though it was not a huge one.

The bowlers too have every right to point fingers at their much-vaunted batsmen for not giving them a bigger score to defend. Mumbai will want to continue the winning rhythm and their combination is working very well. They play a Gujarat team that will be rejuvenated after their first win of the season. They too are struggling with their bowling though the inclusion of Andrew Tye has given just the variety it needs.

Pune have stuttered after beginning with a win. Their batting seems so reliant on Smith and Stokes that when they don't get big runs the team is unable to get the thrust it needs in the final overs. Dhoni too is struggling and so Pune are not getting the scores they should be getting.

They will be heartened by the way Stokes and Thakur bowled when Dwayne Smith and McCullum were going berserk and smashing the ball everywhere.

It's a Sunday double header and there should he heaps of excitement for the crowds.
