"Unfortunately, what has been written is quite prevalent in the society. The publisher is the one who is not an editor. I am not for punishing the responsible person, but I think the writer should be counselled properly as he is mentally ill, who sees a woman in terms of body statistics and not as a human being," said Ghosh.

Another social activist Shamina Shafiq said the person who wrote it and approved the content must first be held responsible instead of targeting the publisher.

Demanding action against the writer and editor, she said, "If we want the society to respect women then we need to give students the right education."

After the issue snowballed, the HRD Ministry has assured action against the publisher.

The book titled "Health and Physical Education" has been written by Dr V.K Sharma and published by Delhi-based New Saraswati House. (ANI)
