The DGP lauded the restraint and patience shown by the CRPF jawans in the face of heckling and grave provocation by the miscreants. 'I admire the patience of the CRPF personnel ... any armed force in the world would have retaliated with force. It would have led to death of those ruffians,' Vaid said.
The Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday arrested five youths in connection with a video clip who were allegedly involved in assaulting Central Reserve Police Force jawans during by-poll to the Srinagar parliamentary constituency on April 9.
State Police chief SP Vaid while confirming the arrest of the five youths said, “We have identified 11youths in connection with the incident out of which five have been arrested.”
“While the role of three among the five arrested youths has been established, the involvement of other two youths is being investigated,” he told reporters.
Police had registered a FIR in connection with an assault on CRPF personnel on April 9 in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday on a complaint filed by the CRPF. The video went viral on social media, leading to uproar across the country. The State government had vowed to take stern action against those involved in the incident.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed concern and anguish over the surfacing of videos reportedly from Budgam and has sought a detailed report from the Police in this regard. Terming the display of acts in the videos as unacceptable, she asked the Police to submit a detailed report about these incidents to her so that necessary action is initiated.
