The state has appointed Dr Debasis Bhattacharyya as the new head of the Directorate of Medical Education (DME).

According to secretariat sources, Bhattacharyya, who was the Principal of the Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital, will fill in the vacancy created after Dr Santunu Bandyopadhyay retired this February.
