Mercedes drives record quarterly sales after demonetisation

The volume growth though is just a per cent over same period of last year

In its first quarter after demonetisation, country’s top luxury carmaker, Mercedes, has posted its best performance. The German carmaker sold 3,650 vehicles in January-March, the best in any quarter. The volume growth though is just a per cent over same period of last year. 

Roland Folger, managing director and chief executive officer at Mercedes-Benz India, said the 2017 calendar year began with a positive drive and he was confident of bettering our performance in the coming months. Mercedes’ luxury SUV portfolio, comprising the GLA, GLC, GLE, GLE Coupe and the GLS grew the highest by 13 per cent in the quarter.
